Congratulations to Revved Up CrossFit Member of the Month Rachel Estep!
About Rachel
I’m 33 years old and moved to the area from Mason County, I’ve lived in Teays Valley for about 6 years. I am an RN and have worked in healthcare for the last 16 years. In my spare time I play roller derby.
What is your most memorable Crossfit experience?
Pulling a sled backwards during a workout, I was so focused that I didn’t remember the tire that would eventually be behind me. My heel hit the side of the tire causing me to fall into the middle of it in front of everyone! It was hilarious!
Why did you decide to try Crossfit?
It helps me to work out with a group of people at a scheduled time. I tore my ACL playing roller derby and my physical therapy was at TPTC. One day during my therapy someone told me about the classes at Revved Up, after my therapy I decided to give it a try.
What was your biggest challenge or improvement?
Anything knee related. I feel confident with weighted squats now, weighted lunges are still scary, but they are getting better. It’s nice to have trainers watching you to make sure you are doing things correctly. I also have asthma which makes things challenging but always doable.
What is your favorite workout?
Tabatas probably. It is nice to push as hard as you can for a period of time knowing you have rest coming up.
What advice would you give a new member?
Keep coming! It’s a super positive environment. If there is something you are unable to do there are always modifications that can be made.
Anything else?
Best. Class. Ever.
