September Members of the Month, Michelle and Todd Townsend
Tell us a little about yourself and when you joined.
Michelle: I am a wife and a proud mom to a 19-year old, Meg, a WVU student. I joined in 2006…time flies!
Todd: I’m married to Michelle. We have a daughter Med who is also a member. We have lived in the area for 20 years. I joined in 2016.
What is your memorable CrossFit experience?
Michelle: Many happy memorable classes. Honestly, my gym life has evolved into one I never thought I’d have - one in which I don’t dread walking through those doors to sweat it out! And - the friendships made have been a true blessing.
Todd: I have always enjoyed any team competitions. It’s always fun to challenge yourself against other members.
Why did you try CrossFit?
Michelle: I’d come to Zumba and the class was canceled. Brad (Revved Up Coach) saw what happened and offered to take me and a few other ladies through an adult fitness…the rest is history!
Todd: My daughter and I joined after seeing my wife make strides in her fitness.
What has been your biggest challenge or improvement?
Michelle: Many challenges - still improving? The biggest improvement has been overall strength.
Todd: Overall strength and conditioning
What is your favorite workout?
Michelle: Anything with multiple short AMRAPs.
Todd: Murph
What advice would you give a new member?
Michelle: Come for more than one class! Don’t become discouraged. There are many different fitness levels here and modifications can be made. Keep attending class!! Don’t quit.
Todd: Be patient. You will be sore, but it is worth it. It is not only about working out. You meet good people who become great friends.
